Itinerary description

Hiking a beautiful part of the Quilotoa Loop, from the town of Sigchos to Posada de Tigua (a dairy farm near Tigua). There are four stages:

1) from Sigchos to Isinliví (11,1km, asc 360m, desc 320m);
2) to Chucchilán (11,9km, asc 630m, desc 400m);
3) to Quilotoa (10,9km, asc 1130m, desc 440m);
4) to Tigua (19,1km, asc 350m, desc 290m).

There are several daily bus services from Latacunga to both Sigchos and Tigua. All towns offer some form of lodging. The hike can be done in both directions.

    Very useful this, thanks, we did this south to north. We did a different route in a few bits, particularly the canyon between Quilotoa and Tigua. Using this GPS was prob more useful than trying to follow the instructions from the hostels in a lot of places. May upload our variations at some point

    Quilotoa Loop (not really a loop) is great trail! You can stay in great hostels each night where you'll find excellent dinners and breakfasts, people from all over the world, and beautiful local families. The trail is decently marked, but I very much recommend a gps to confirm turns and walks through what seems like private property. The trail from the Laguna Quilotoa rim to the town of Quilotoa is the only portion that we considered difficult (narrow cliffside trail with massive drop-offs). I believe there is an alternate route keeping up on the rim. Highly recommend to experience the sites, people, and culture of Ecuador.
