Itinerary description
Cek Canyon or Gudyalchay Canyon is located in North-East Azerbaijan, in the middle course of the river of the same name, and in itself corresponds to a deep gorge with steep slopes more than 1000 m high. The Kyzylgaya massif, which the canyon cuts through, is composed of marbleized malm-neokom limestones of various colors, which give this corner of the nature of the South-Eastern Caucasus an inimitable color. The first Gryzdahne part of the canyon, which consists of two parts, starts from the exotic "Minare" rock and stretches for more than 8 km, opposite the river flow, to the place where it meets the right branch Agchay. In this area, the road from Guba to Khinalyg passes through the bottom of the canyon, the slopes are covered with thick forest, and in the middle part there is a wide ring-shaped Grizdahna hole, which opens a beautiful panorama of the semi-mountainous alpine meadows.
The upper Gryz part of the canyon corresponds to the transversely oriented narrow part of the river that stretches between the steep slopes of the Kyzylgaya limestone massif and has been able to preserve its original beauty and grandeur as it is practically not exposed to anthropogenic influences.
