Itinerary description

After many snowshoeing loops in this area last winter, here comes the summer hike. We started on Qehmez-Afqa main road near the bifurcation of Jabal Moussa reserve. An ascent on dirt road will take you to a kind of plateau surrounded by hills to the east and south and offering amazing sceneries to the north (Ehmej, Laklouk, Akoura...). At some point, we left the trail and took an off-trail shortcut (tough ascent) to intersect with the LMT section Afqa-Hrajel. Stay on trail if you want to have a mild ascent (longer walk). Instead of following the LMT going to Hrajel, i continued straight towards Chabrouh highlands. Do not miss the viewpoint on your way with a metallic Cross on the hill (check waypoint). The trail takes you to the base of the geodesic point. A moderate steady ascent is waiting for you to reach the geodesic point in the area, a good place to have a break. After the highest point, comes the long descent. A rocky trail (steep descent) goes down to Bhassis where you will be walking on the LMT Afqa-Hrajel section.
PAY ATTENTION! THE PART OF TRAIL FROM THE GEODESIC POINT TO BHASSIS IS NOT FEASIBLE IN WINTER BECAUSE OF THE STEEP SNOWY SLOPE. I TRIED TO DO IT ONCE IN WINTER AND IT WAS TOO RISKY. Check my other trails to choose alternative winter routes.
The walk on the LMT is pleasant without any difficulty. At some point, you will get back to the plateau before going back down to the starting point. Have lot of drinking water in summer and a large hat! Enjoy this hike and stay safe. Kindly leave a short review after following any of my trails :)

Witness the beauty of lebanese majestic mountains while hiking this trail ⛰️ pretty stops at the cross, the geodesic point and finally the view of the chabrouh dam.. not very difficult but you need to drink a lot of water and wear a hat. Thank you Rami for all your unique trails ☀️🧢📍🥾 🤍

I don’t think you could find better than Rami in his knowledge of the area he trails in, or the geography around it. Best source of knowledge, awesome guide, and joyful company. Whenever, i hike with Rami i feel fulfilled with joy and great surroundings.
