Itinerary description
Most people miss the opportunity to go on a hike when arriving to Theth but there's a multitude of walking options. This connection from Boga Valley to Qafa e Thores (the pass) is the easiest one.
It can be combined with a hike to Nderlysa, the lookout mountain Zorzit or an overnight stay in tents at the small pond near Qafa e Thores. Depending on your choice have your luggage taken to the guesthouse of your choice or organize to be picked up where the trail meets the road again.
The recorded trail takes by estimation up to 2h and leads you first through a beautiful stretch of shady untouched forest while rising to an area known as Gropa e Portes ("Valley of the Door"). This used to be the one connection on which all men, goods and animals travelled from and to Theth until the road was constructed in the 1930s. A few stans (summer pastures) are still located here and to the left the Radohimes Massif invites for more daring hikes. Don't miss the junction where you have to turn right! Arriving at the stan or small pond, you walked too far.
The following part rises on a good path to a saddle and then drops to the road near another small pond.
This area is suitable for camping and offers spectacular views. In addition, just opposite of the end of your walk the next trailhead is located near yet another stan ruins. The hikes goes past the "Blue Eye" (Syri i Kalter) to Nderlysa. An alternative is to walk down the road for 3.5km and start the hike to Maja e Zorzit. Both tracks are available separately for download.
ZalaZ offers guided and self-guided walks to single summits, tailor made walking holidays and multi-day trekking tours in Montenegro, Albania and parts of Kosovo. Visit our website for more information and get in touch if you have any questions: welcome@zalaz.org
