Itinerary description

Lovely views of the Black Valley, Gap Of Dunloe and many other mountains await at the top of this mountain. Lough Leane & Killarney can be seen along the way as well. I would say this would normally take approximately 4 hours for most people to reach the peak - and probably about 6 to go back down again. On this trip, bringing camping equipment slowed us down significantly. Most of your time is spent ascending on this route - I would imagine there are easier options out there too. If you opt to descent "directly" from near the peak (~700m) to the road (as we did), be aware that it is quite steep, there are quite a few streams/rivers around and returning to the Gap Of Dunloe car park by road will take a little while. Probably wouldn't be the best hike to do for a first-timer, but well worth it nonetheless!
