Itinerary description
This is the southern approach to the Psiloritis (also known as Mountain Idi or Ida) and this trail is part of the official E4-Paneuropean path.
The southern approach to this mountain is very difficult and starts at a much lower point as the norther approach. Beware that you have to climb 2000 meters. Expect a total time of 16 hours hiking (complete roundtrip - slow hikers). Some parts of the trail are very steep and not very well-marked. When we walked this trail, we had to search for the right path a couple of times (but you have the GPS trail now!). Take at least 3 liters of water, some food and sun-lotion - wear sturdy shoes.
Be careful! Check out the weather report!
The only good thing of the southern approach is that you are walking in the shadow of the mountain until noon - which is comfortable.
If you are preparing for this hike, feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
