Old Quebec is a traditional neighborhood located east of the Quebec hill, and contains the fortifications of the city. This is one of the most visited places in the region. It consists of two zones: the Upper City and the Lower City. It was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1985.
Sometimes it is called Latin Quarter, but rather that name is applied to the surroundings of the Seminary of Quebec, original place of the University of Laval.
Most of the buildings in the district date back to the 19th century. The area has several commercial streets, such as San Juan, Santa Ana and De Buade streets. We can contemplate the following buildings: the Town Hall, the Seminary of Quebec, the convent of the Ursulines, the monastery of the Augustinians, the hospital of the House of God, and the famous Château Frontenac.
