Itinerary description
One of a few trails that could be comfortably taken even during sizzling hot summer months.
Starting point is marked as number 5 on the map above, near Marathos picnic site.
Parking space is not available on the paved road, so you should park on the gravel road going uphill, which is the beginning of the trail.
My route includes a canonical uphill trail to point #3 on the map, continuing to the point #2.
Then I took an unmarked path uphill to the top, instead of taking an easier and less steep route to point #1. Climbing might be a bit challenging in the hot weather, although you will shortly be rewarded by a cool wind and tall pine forest once you reach the top.
Next part of the trail includes breathtaking views of the mountains, and Prodromos and Pedoulas villages down below. Tall pines provide great shade, and there's a good chance to enjoy a cloud being stuck above the mt. Olympus peak.
From the top, the return path is mild and well marked, going mostly downhill from point #1 to point#2.
