Itinerary description
Rhodope, beautiful mountains! I had a chance to hike the two highest peaks. The first one, Golyam Perelik is 2191m and the second one is Orfey, 2188m. First, you follow the asphalted 6km road from Prevala (mountain pass on 1700m) to Perelik hut. After that, the path takes you up and down to Orfey peak, from where you can enjoy wonderful views all around! Then, on the way back you have to make another small hike to the highest mountain peak, Golyam Perelik. Actually, you can not hike to the peak, but to the fence instead as there is a military installation on the top. From here, you follow again the same road all the way down to Prevala. It was almost 30km nice trip.
