Presa Fresnillo Circuit, Grazalema
This walk which goes up and around the Grazalema dam starts on the outskirts of Grazalema pueblo, adjacent to the Pabellon Polideportivo Municipal, where there is plenty of parking.
Taking the back road and making your way to the bridge Puente de la Asamblea, which is where the trail starts. The trail goes gently upto the dam wall where enroute you get panoramic view of Grazalema and the iconic Peñón Grande.
From here you have to scale some rocks to get to the top. This is supposedly a restricted area but I saw six other hikers around the reservoir. As you go around the reservoir to your left there is a gate half way down, but you can go around it easily to the left of it.
Circling the reservoir you pick up a thin path on the otherside and when it curves you have an uphill section for 10 minutes. Then it’s downhill to the main road A372.
From here one of the old trails was damaged by road works, so I had a little section of main road before picking up a path down to Calle Nueva, then onto Plaza de España, and finally the last leg on Plaza Pequeña of the A372 which will bring you back to the start.
