It may be one of the most touristic routes in Norway, but it is nonetheless impressive.
Preikestolen (also called The Pulpit Rock) is a large rock that is perched on the cliff of the Lysefjord fjord more than 600 meters high. The views from here are really exceptional, of those that take away the hiccups (literally). The edges of this great rock are precipices of hundreds of meters to which people peek out (sometimes in a "kamikaze" way).
This is a place, that although it is always full of people, it is worth knowing. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the large crowds of people coming from the cruise ships (I luckily went up soon and I did not meet too many people, however when I came back I crossed over with thousands of people going to the Preikestolen).
Interestingly, despite being a popular site, the access road is about 9 kms (round trip) and with an accumulated altitude of about 500 meters. Logically, from my point of view it is not suitable for people who are not used to walking minimally or who have mobility difficulties. Also keep in mind that people who suffer from vertigo, will not have a great time.
The track that I have posted here is only the way to go. I forgot to turn on the GPS on the way back ;-)
