Itinerary description
An unsuccessful attempt at Jalsu Pass from Prei village, from Kangra side. The climb is quite steep and draining. In Aug the Sun was beaming down extra heat our way and within a few hours we were out of water. The climb seemed unrelenting on the knees and the pass was not in view. While we were assisted by a local resident of the Prei village, we abandoned the attempt as we were told that there is no water enroute and water is available only at the top.

Chased by a cow
So the cows chase humans for salt! The shepherds bring salt for their herds every week. The local shepherds told me that the cattle will die or will go literally crazy for want of salt!

Midway to Jalsu Jot. No water
I was left without water after going uphill on an unrelenting slope in blazing Sun and very humid weather. In retrospect, I made a bad decision about carrying less water than required.
