Itinerary description

The ascent to the summit of Mt. Tara, Veliki stolac (eng. Big Chair). The nature is nice, but... the marked trail goes all the way up on a wide, flat gravel road. DO NOT GO ON ANY TRAIL BESIDE IT. It will lead you nowhere, as it is likely a remnant "road" made by a logging machine, usually a dead end.

We ended up backtracking multiple times because of it, wanting to get off the said gravel road. That said, the hike up is not a hike, but a walk. Technical difficulty is zero, the only thing that matters is how your feet tolerate prolonged walking on flat surfaces. We became so bored that actually decided to skip scaling the summit, and see Krušćice lake, but the sign lied about the walking time to it: 30mins, in reality it's muuuuch longer.

Decided to go rest at a mountain lodge on the way, and circling back following a supposed path on the map. The road turned out to be non existent. Cut through thick woods relying on GPS and blind luck. Eventually took the same boring walk down as we came up.

Conclusion: For hikers who prefer to WALK on a road instead of hike, this is perfect. Everyone else, better drive to the summit, or if you're in good shape, go on bike.

The path straight leads to the summit. The left path is a lie saying that Krušćica Lake is 30mins away. It's not, about 30mins down that trail, there is another one pointing the way to the lake not mentioning the timeframe.

Mountain Lodge on Batura

The mountain lodge on Batura. Also a spot to replenish your water supply. If you started your ascent on Predov krst, you should turn back now - ON THE SAME WAY YOU CAME. The path continuing forward from the lodge does not circle back (unless you cut through the thick woods on rough terrain).

If you see this sign, you're going the wrong way if you want to circle back to the starting point on Predov krst. There is a thin line on Google Maps indicating that the left hand path on this photo actually circles back to a previous intersection, but it doesn't. So we decided to cut through the woods to avoid massive backtracking, but it was through thick foliage, basically relying on GPS and blind luck to come back up on the main road.
