Preddvor - Sv Jacok - Javorjev Vrh - Hudicev borst - Crnjava - Cerkev Sv Petra 2022-08-02 8:13
After a two-year wait, due to the restrictions of the COVID-19, this summer we went to see a little Slovenia. As on other occasions, with the help of Ramon de Giroguies , who has found us an alternative adjusted to the objectives. You will see that they are a set of several self-guided routes, which have the particularity of being easy and of a distance of less than 20 km. In some cases you can make small extensions to complete the route. They have also provided us with travel, accommodation and breakfast, lunch en route and dinner is no challenge for where we have stayed. During these seven days we will have covered about 125 km. +4,475 m. -5,870 m.
We get up, on the fourth day, have breakfast early and head upstairs. There is an option to take a long or short route... needless to say we decided to take the long route and our two companions the short one ;-))
Combining track and trail with a good slope and among the roots of majestic trees, we arrive at Sv. Jakob (or Sant Jaume, and it must be said that many of the sections we have done are from the Camino de Sant Jaume to Santiago de Compostela and are well marked as such). The view is also exceptional, the church is closed, but very well preserved, with some nice benches on the platform, a place for a quick first bite. There is also a well-equipped shelter because it can be reached by car.
We leave and take a path that goes up until we reach an incredible viewpoint, right in front of us is our goal, the Hudicev borst, a forest in the middle of the mountain meadows. We keep going up until we reach a pass. From now on we will follow the ridge, we will climb to the top of Javorjev (1,434 m) with a 360º view, and we will continue along the ridge until we find the junction that leads to Zaplata and the top of Srednji (1,853 m) - in this occasion we don't have time to do this other summit. We follow the path that passes through an area of scree with an impressive cliff, it's not dangerous, but it's not worth swallowing... so go straight.
Arriving at the Hudicev borst refuge, it is closed, I think they only open on weekends. There are benches with an exceptional view. Here we have lunch quietly. We greet a couple with a child, who stay for lunch on the same bench that we leave free, and we go straight down to the valley. It's a long descent, between forests and skipping the track that goes up making some great marks.
At the end we arrive at the village of Preddvor, and at the bar on the lake we find our young hiking companions, we drink coffee and eat a good batch of chocolate. There is everything about children bathing in the lake. We arrive in the center of town and buy groceries for the next lunches.
We were able to see different birds of prey and a splendid geology and botany. One of the best days.
