Itinerary description
Day 19. Cushbawn 400m and Preban Hill 388m, Aughrim, Wicklow, Eire (Marilyns).
On many of the peak bagging/outdoor websites I perused for this trip I noted there were very few route descriptions regarding ascents of the lesser known Irish Marilyns. This also applied to the availability of gpx files. I will therefore add relevant information and files that hopefully will provide assistance to future hikers/peakbaggers.
Preban Hill 388m, Aughrim, Wicklow, Eire (Marilyn).
The second of two Marilyns that can be hiked around Aughrim town in Wicklow. This one starts on a back road on the West side of the town at the obligatory forestry entrance. Room enough for about 2/3 cars at a push. Simply walk, follow the forest track all the way to the top for three kilometres until you get to a crossroads of forestry tracks. The highest point appears to be an obvious raised earth mount at the said junction. The views are pretty decent for half of the way up and still a decent walk.
Parking: Forestry entrance for 2/3 cars.
Route: Straight up and down forestry track with half decent views.
Statistics: 6.5km with 237m height gain done in 1hr 12mins.
