Itinerary description
Official walking trail PRC31 SMI, waymarked red-yellow, with description and GPS coordinates also available under

Trail is mostly on roads, dirt roads or good paths, representing no particular difficulties except a number of accentuated ups and downs (in particular the steep ascent up the cliffs above Boca da Ribeira).
At the mouth of Ribeira do Guilherme, you pass by the sea-water swimming pools of Boca da Ribeira, which, to my opinion, are among the best of the island. As you probably may not want to use them during the walk, consider coming back at the end (limited parking down in the valley during high season).
Our trail time includes a 30 min picnic near the viewpoint at km 4.5.
At the end we did not choose the option to visit Parque da Morgada and the viewpoint Miradouro dos Barreiros (as foreseen in the official trail), which we already knew from another occasion, but ventured a few hundred meters further through the village of Lomba da Fazenda.
