Itinerary description
Today’s walk is led by Karina and has not been done for a few years and should suit most walkers. The walk starts at the new parking area just off the main entrance to the centre of the village. We walk through the out skirts of the village on a minor road, crossing the bypass into the countryside. We meander past quarries and the odd goat farm with stunning views across to Paramali and Avdimou bay. The walk is nearly all downhill to Avdimou, apart from a very short up right at the end. We are generally on good goat or truck tracks with shade as and when we need it. We arrive in Avdimou, by the old Olive tree.
After a short break, we continue to Prastio on the unused road until we come to the old Avdimou to Prastio Track. The return walk is generally on good tracks firstly meandering through the valley until we reach a very short scrabble to a main track A short hill takes us to the plateau which is flattish until we come to ‘Heart attack hill’ which is a steep climb on cement road back into the village and on to the start point.
