Itinerary description

Prabalgad and it's more famous sibling Kalavantin are located near Matheran range. We climbed up to Prabalgad from a rarely used southern route, from Matheran side. Initial 5km of flat walk takes you to Umbarnewadi. One can go to Malang point of Matheran on the right, or to Prabalgad on the left. There is another possibility to go meet Irshalgad-Prabalgad trail, which takes you up to Prabalgad by another route.

After crossing the river, the trail started climbing. Second half of the climb was through a big waterfall, mostly dry at this time of the year. Lot of thorny bushes, slippery loose soil. Last 200m was a Nali climb, as was the initial part of descent.

This route will probably be no-go during monsoons.
At two spots along the waterfall, they had to put ropes (not for technical climb, but for safety. in case you have inexperienced members)
Wear full sleeve shirt/pant - lot of thorny bushes.
There was some flowing water (january) at multiple places.
the trail on southern side is not much used, is tough and guide absolutely needed. Ask in Umbarnewadi.
Naal sections (climb on this side and descend on the other) not kind to your knees.
