Itinerary description
Base is thakurwadi village near Panvel. You can use google map navigation set for Kalavantin Trek Start. It was about 2.5hr drive from Pune, early morning. There is parking at the base.
You get to the plateau of Prabalmachi in about an hour, 350m elevation gain, 3km. Inside the village, at the hotel, you have to take a right for Prabalgad, and left for Kalavantin. We took the right. There is a flattish walk of a km, then the trail turns leftward towards the mountain (there was a fallen tree at the turn), and then it starts climbing. Once you reach the rockface, it is steep climb of ~230m through rockslide to the top. There are huts all along the way (closed on weekday), so the trail is difficult to miss. When you reach the top, you have to take a left to head towards the view of Kalavantin.
3.5hr moving time, plus another two hours for breaks and photography. Take lots of water (2ltr per person) and food with you.

Granularity of the elevation obtained from strava isn't great, but the trail map is alright
