Itinerary description
The hike is situated in Maharashtra and district Raigad; a wee bit ahead of the Panvel town.
The base village is thakurwadi.
Initial first half of the trek is through easy terrain and one reaches a plateau called Prabal Macchi or Macchi Prabal (macchi means plateau in marathi).
A village of few hamlets exist on the plateau, although the non bio disposal seems amiss. We got a bit off track in the rain and thick vegetation before being course corrected by a local man.
The climb from the plateau to Prabal gad is gradual in the start but becomes a bit of scrambling in between before easing out. Finally, one reaches into the huge plateau on top with thick vegetation.
One should visit the left section of the gad to see Kalavantin durg from top
