Itinerary description

This is an area of environmental preservation, of semi-arid climate, with low vegetation with beautiful flowers.
The landscapes of the rocky coast and the sea are breathtaking, with the contrast of the dark volcanic rock with the blue sea. The volcanic rock eroded by winds and rains has impressive shapes.
The 8 km round trip is well demarcated and in the most dangerous places it has protection barriers. It is an easy level of difficulty.
Because it is so beautiful, easy to access and close to the airport, this footpath is very popular and can have a small crowd there. Don't let this get in the way of your impression of the place.
The walk starts at Baia D’Abra, which is the point at which cars and buses arrive. About halfway there is Prainha, a black sand beach.
The pedestrian trail ends at Casa do Sardinha, further down is the Cais do Sardinha, with a small entrance to see the sea.
From Cais do Sardinha you can still climb for about 10 minutes and go to the highest point of Ponta de São Lourenço, from where you have a panoramic view of the reserve.
The return is made by the same path
