Itinerary description
Climb the Lemelerberg
The train station of Ommen is the starting point of this walk. Drop your car at the end point of this route and then travel to Ommen by train or park your car here and hit the road. Along the way you walk across heaths, through forest areas and along drifting sand areas on the Lemelerberg nature reserve. From the higher parts of this area you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. Then you can take a look at the village of Lemele, at the foot of the Lemelerberg. This village is named after the loam that used to be found around the Lemelerberg. From Lemele you walk further to Hellendoorn.
De Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park
Before you enter Hellendoorn, you walk along the edge of the National Park De Sallandse Heuvelrug. This park is one of the largest contiguous nature reserves in Overijssel. Meander here over the seemingly endless heaths and through the woods and enjoy the view. The end point of the route is in the middle of Hellendoorn.
The Pieterpad
This route is just one of the stages of the Pieterpad, the most famous long-distance walking route in the Netherlands. The entire Pieterpad consists of 26 stages that run from the Wadden coast of Groningen to the Sint-Pietersberg in South Limburg. You can choose to choose a stage that appeals to you, but you can of course also choose to explore the entire route.
Reading tip! We have the three must-see attractions .

Waypoints
Treinstation Ommen
In the surroundings of Zwolle, Ommen, Almelo and Mari? Nberg you can make endless beautiful bike rides and walks, including through the Vechtdal and along the river Vecht. If you don't live in this area, it is definitely worth the trip to come and explore this area. This can be done very easily by train. A railway line with Arriva trains runs between Zwolle and Ommen. No hassle with attaching your bikes to the car, just take your bike with you on the train. Traveling has never been easier. You can also dream away on the train and admire the landscape from the window. In the car you always have to pay attention when you are the driver. A day out by train is therefore highly recommended. This railway has been owned by Arriva since 2010. All these trains are executed in the colors blue and white, adapted to the colors of the province of Overijssel.

Steile Oever
You can take the name Steile Oever literally. This is a moraine from the last Ice Age with a steep bank that has been carved out by the Regge. Today the Steile Oever is an old cut-off meander of the Regge. De Steile Oever is not only unique for its steep banks, but also for its beautiful "viewing axes".
