Itinerary description
The 2nd famous of the many Ways of St. James is the caminho português (Portuguese Way of St. James) - the pilgrimage through green hinterland. Starting from Porto, this trail follows the central route all the way to Santiago de Compostela and furthermore to Finisterre on the coast.
Almost 250 kilometers long, the Portuguese Way of St. James is well equipped with pilgrim hostels and infrastructure (e.g. cafés, restaurants) and can be completed in 2 weeks.
This 1st stage of the Caminho Portugues starts in front of the Porto Cathedral (Sé do Porto) with final stop at the Mosteiro de Vairão.
