Itinerary description
An amazing hike albeit I was sand whipped and almost blown off Pt Nepean!
Really enjoyed the entire days hike and historic information. I have provided some historic commentary on waypoint photos.
Would strongly recommend using hiking poles and wear hiking shoes...lots of sandy dune patches and hills to navigate over.
Toilets at London Bridge carpark, Quarantine area and Fort Nepean.
Some water fountains along the way but I’d recommend you bring 1L each person and plenty of snacks for energy.

Wilson’s Folly
The track is well defined, sandy in part and much easier to navigate with walking poles

The First Shots
Midnight (German time) 4/8/14, Great Britain declared war on Germany. Simultaneously (5/8/14 Australian time) a German steamer SS Pfalz was attempting to exit Port Philip Bay before it could be interned. At 12.45pm barrel 1489 fired a heave-to shot convincing Cpt Wilhelm Kuniken to stop. This was the first British empire shot of WW1.
