Itinerary description
The first 8km 2hours until the hamlet Mesa are on a good dirt road, quite a bit boring..
We continue 2 hours until Pico do Cruz on a quite good mountain/dunkey path, good view on SE.
Stop for snack, and fresh drinks from the merceria.
Afterwards, 45mn on a small paved road until reaching the path going down to Cova. Magnifique views first on SE, then on Paul Valley and finally on Cova.
After 30mn going around the cova, 1h on a good path down to Cabo Ribeira, and finally the hotel Aldea Panoramica.
Quite a nice hike.
Note 1: we wanted to take a more direct path from Mesa to Cova but found out that the path down/up the canyon after Mesa had been visibly destroyed by heavy rains previous automn.
Note 2: a more direct path to Cabo Ribeira exists from Pico do Cruz. No need to go to Cova, but for the views.
