Itinerary description
IE-R01-X01 Portballintrae - Giant's Causeway and back
Best way to enjoy the Giant's Causeway. Starts at Salmon Rock Beach, Portballintrae, and follows approximately the old 3-foot gauge railway through the dunes of Runkerry Beach and close to the Bush River.
After the Causeway Hotel we followed the busy path to the typical basalt formations.
On the way back we followed the coastal path around Runkerry Head. There is a small creek we had to cross at the beginning of the beach, but some well placed rocks helped us to not get our boots wet.
After a couple more km, we were in Portballintrae again.
Besides enjoying a beautiful landscape, this is a great way to save good bucks, since the price charged for parking, £13 per person, is totally unreasonable.
