Kovac
Our first route in the parks and specifically in Kananaskis. One little visited and very interesting. The day turns out bad, but still useful.
The original route goes up on one side (where we went up) and down on the other, but since we only had one car and there is no bus on the road it is not possible to do it that way, so we decided to go up to the peak and descend along the route. original.
The route begins at Highwood Pass, which they say is the highest mountain pass in Canada, but I don't know if it was true. As there is no mobile coverage in this entire area, it is advisable to carry the routes previously downloaded on the watches/GPS beforehand because otherwise you will not be able to.
The beginning of the route is comfortable and without getting lost, but when you turn left to enter the side valley, the poorly marked path has a lot of confusing variants. We climbed too high and then had to go down the field. It must be taken into account that when it turns left the path loses height until it reaches a quarry at the bottom of the valley where it surrounds it.
From there without loss. At the end, when you turn right there are two options (we did one going up and one going down) until you reach the final ramp.
In good weather it must have spectacular views.
After this route we went to the Kananaski lakes. The upper one, above all, has magnificent views and some very interesting routes also leave from it.
Near the intersection there is a store next to the road if you need something (even the famous spray)
