Itinerary description
A nice 3-4 hour hike. Solid uphill along la 10, crossing palmas, leading to a steep path with amazing views. At the 2.5-3 hour we arrived to the Mirador de la Paloma. From there it is less than hour to Santa Elena. Our trail leads you to a place with amazing lunches and soups in Santa Elena (La Casa del Sabor.)

A great hike. A little hard to follow at times. Also, the Gate that led to the restaurant at the end was locked with barbed wire. Restaurant closed on weekdays. It’s also hard to find a cab to take you back to the city.
Hey Ralph! Thanks for posting this update. Yes now you do have to jump a fence at the gate. Not too hard but looks a little intimidating- for those reading this, you can climb over near the door without coming in contact with barbed wire. We bring dogs with us and for them it’s better to pass under the fence on the property to the right of the fence. Humans can shimmy too if they don’t mind being on the ground. If the casa del sabor is closed you can go to Dimonte on the same street which has great food. To get a cab or bus you can walk to the Santa Elena main plaza which you can map on Google maps once you’re onto the paved street. It’s another half hour or so walking to the bus stop from the end of this trail. I think I mapped this trail the first time I did this hike awhile back so these were much needed updates.
