Itinerary description
Very picturesque linear trail of which i walked only half, the whole route to Troodos is about 10 kms one way. This trail is also possible to walk as circular.
The trail starts at Platania picnic site which makes a good combination of hiking and picnicking afterwards.
This trail reveals fantastic rock formations as well as breathtaking view to the sea. Along the wide road there are plenty geckos (i witnessed three) and along the whole trail there are a lot of strawberry trees, endemic golden oaks.
TERRAIN: asphalt road in the beginning, then wide dirt road, then narrow rocky forest path with some wide parts.
Ascending every time, initially quite mild, then when narrow path begins, ascent becomes rather steep with some flat parts as well.
On the rocky path poles would be good to have.
SEASON: the part of the trail up to narrow path is almost fully exposed to the sun, narrow path is in 80% of shade. In cooler seasons the trail is eroded by various streams.
SIGNS: there are E4 signs in the beginning and some in the mid but trail is well definable all the time. No resting places.
KIDS: the wide part from the beginning is walkable with kids of any age, even with prams if the latter have proper wheels and amortization. For the narrow parts kids should be better above 7yo.
