Good option for those who arriving on cruise fancy some exercise in full nature.
The GPS played a trick on us and, suddenly, when we stopped, it moved to another point (hence the flat phases of the profile if you use the show elevation mode). Therefore you cannot trust distances. I calculate that in total they have been about 16 kms at an average of 4 Kms / hour or a little more.
The first part is spectacular. According to the population, you are already in the middle of the forest Path very well signposted. Strong slope but bearable. Nice views from above.
Once you get off to connect with Snout Track you have to cross a corner of Picton and get to the Marina parking lot. There we made the decision to go to the other valley and connect with the Snout Track later in order not to repeat the route (since we knew it was a round trip route). The only way we found to climb the rope was a road that dazzled the route so beautiful that we had enjoyed in the first part of the journey.
That road led us to the top of the rope that we had to follow until the beginning of the Snout Trout and it was the least attractive part since you were with many people who had climbed to the same place as you by car. Then the road connects with the Snout Trout through a track not paved but without vegetation around it became a bit heavy despite not being long.
Once they got back into the ascent towards Queen Elisabeth View everything returned to their being, the ascent to that point being much more pleasant.
Fantastic views of the "Sound" and the surroundings that made the four-hour walk worthwhile.
