Itinerary description
How to get there:
-Pico transfers offers a van for hotel pickup and drop-off, bringing people at the beginning of this hike and taking them in the end (both for Sunrise or Morning schedules) for around €35.
-Car
There is a parking lot at Pico Arieiro and also at Achada do Teixeira, then we will have to come back also or arrange a transfer back to the car.
- There are not buses so far, and also did not see taxis waiting there.
The hike:
-Self guided, well maintained and very safe (rocks can be wet, but there are not dangerous passages without protection)
- I counted 4 tunels, some of them were long but the phone light was enough, they also can get very wet
-It is much colder than Funchal and other trails, specially in sunrise, so be prepared with layers
-3G working sometimes, very limited
-Restaurants with WC in Arieiro, Ruivo and Teixeira (but can be closed in the early morning)
-All ages in the trail (from babies to 80+), be aware of the steps
Notes:
-DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE, TAKE YOUR GARBAGE WITH YOU
-DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS
-ENJOY THE AMAZING VIEWS AND CLOUDS!

Schöne Strecke die zwischendurch sehr anstrengend wird. Es lohnt sich aber auf jeden Fall.

Excelente ruta, con unas vistas impresionantes. Lamentablemente muy masificada.
