Itinerary description
Parking Lioson d’en Bas - Pic Chaussy - Parking Lioson d’en Bas.
MODERATE hiking near Les Mosses (Ormont-Dessous)
This is a fantastic hike above the Les Mosses with the impressive view of the mountains. On your way to the top, you will pass a great lake, Lac Lioson, with crystal-clear water.
The final ascent to the summit of Pic Chaussy is steep, but it is not technically advanced- the mountain panorama views from the summit of Pic Chaussy are definitely worth the hike.
Your hiking begins at Parking Lioson d`en Bas.

Follow the road uphill to the lake Lac Lioson.
From there you follow the steep path to the Pic Chaussy
After having reached the top you will see the great 360 ° panorama provides the fantastic views over the Alps.
Walking back from Pic Chaussy:
Take the same way you came to the top, after ca 800 m at the little mountain "pass" turn left to the mountain pasture Buvette des Petits Lacs. If you are lucky you may hear the marmots whistle on this path. From here follow Lioson d`en Bas /Les Mosses signs to get back to the parking place (ca 35 min)
Variants:
You can take the same way back, making a rest stop at the Restaurant Lac Lioson.
The Pic Chaussy cable car is not available.
It was dismantled for many years ago (cable way is still visible on some maps)
The first part of your hiking you walk through the forest on the wide, beaten way
uphill (ca 1,2 km)
The second part is more physically demanding- after passing the Lake Lioson you walk on the narrow path steep uphill but it is not technically difficult. If you are in normal physical condition you will be able to complete this hike without any problems.
At the Restaurant Lac Lioson : Dwarf Animal Park: Fun for the Whole Family! (almost 70 animals)
You can get there :
By car: having arrived to the Les Mosses (from the north), after passing the Hotel le Relais Alpin turn left to the Les Fontanes road.
Then after 300 m turn left on the Les Cartiers and after ca 100 m turn right to the Les Mosses roadwhich will lead you to the Parking Lioson d’en Bas.

By bus: the bus stops at Village. Follow then the signs to the Lac Liosson /Pic Chaussy.
