Itinerary description
Super fun trail to do. Surface varies from dirt road to single track and smooth-packed dirt to ankle-buster sized rocks. Trekking poles advised. Views of the American River are spectacular and the Spring blooms were just starting. The eagles were in their nest guarding their egg(s). Due to the threat of rain today, we had the entire place almost to ourselves ... a very rare occurrence on the highly-trafficked route.
