Itinerary description
Yanas mountain to Jebel Tafif Summit.
This hike is for determined hikers. There is no back up plan as the summit area is bit away from civilisation.

We, a group of friends hike up from Yanas mountain plateau to Jebel Tafif Summit, which techinically is about 600 meters into Oman from the Borderline. But there is no fence or border controls.
We followed a trail recorded by Lotfi Ansari.
We started the hike from the end of the Offroad on the plateau of Yanas mountain. You need a proper 4X4 to reach this location.

The initial trail is well laid and visible that crosses Azabat, Sal and Tafifi village.
After Tafifi village, the trail is basically direction oriented and you can already see the summit in front of you towards East.
You navigate through the ountain surface and then need to hike up the Tafif mountain.
In my this trail I made a mistake but then we returned back to take the right climb to go up to reach the top of Tafif summit. This is visible in my trail, please note it.
My mistake was from 6.6 Kms to 7.7 Kms area, you can avoid it.
We have also placed few extra cairns for future references so that the confusion to locate the Ascent towards Tafif can be noticed and ascended.
Once we were on the top of Tafif, we noticed the UAE Oman border marker and from there about 600 meters away is the actual summit of Tafif mountain at 1650 meters.
Then we decided to hike up to next mountain looking like a Camel hump that also had another border marker pole. We went till there and returned back the same way that we ascended.
We returned back to our cars the same way of ascent and overall it was a nice hike.
We had excellent views of Jebel Qihwi and Asasma in Musandam Oman.
We could also clearly see Wadi Naqab, Jebel Yibir summit, Jebel half Tila (Twin Brothers), Jebel Qadaah, Jebel Yabana and Jebel Jais summits.
For me, this hike was the best one with all best view points.
We also came to know that this summit can be reached from Leopard Canyon and also Wadi Bih.
Looking forward to those hikes !

I attempted this hike last week! But mid hike after 9km my north face boots base took off from my feet and had to go back half barefooted.
But looks very nice!!
