Itinerary description

This circular walk is best to start from Damouchari, where we can have a swim and lunch in the end. We climb up to Mouresi using the cobbled stone path (kalderimi) and then cross Chalorema stream walking on an overgrown path. After reaching the location of Tsagarada village called Vigla, we return down to Damouchari by the main kalderimi in a beautiful natural setting. Walking time 2.20', total time 3 h. 8 October 2017: cleaned by volunteers, will be half open for a couple of years at least. Still requires long trousers.

WARNING! At the moment it is impossible to walk this trail, parts of it are so overgrown that you can't find the right way, even with GPS. We couldn't finish the trail because around kilometer 3,2 somebody put lots of beehives along the route. We tried to walk thru but is looked like the way is overgrown after the last beehive. We slowly walked back but my wife got attack by the bees, luckily she got only one stich. There was no sign or warning that the trail stops there. It's a shame and dangerous what they do to this actually beautiful walk.

We went to clean the route yesterday in view of a scheduled walk. I was expecting chaos having read the comments here. In contrary, the path was overgrown but still passable. We did some cleaning and improved signing. No beehives were there. Because some annoying vegetation still remains, I will push for annual cleaning with strimmer by paid labour from the Friends of the Kalderimi of South Pelion. If this succeeds, the maintenance problem will be solved. Anyway, the path remains open and passable with minor problems. Its like a kind of adventure in the jungle of Pelion.

Did the walk today with a 12-strong team. It was generally OK with one exception: Halfway up from the streambed to the Tsagarada side, someone had cut a tree and left it down blocking the path. This means that we had to climb on the fallen tree for 3-4 meters. There is also a way to bypass the tree from below. We will try to cut the tree with a chainsaw to unblock the path, but that may not happen before autumn. Otherwise the path is open and the signing improved. No beehives were observed.
