Itinerary description
This is the western part of the Tisseon crossing. From the church of Panagia next to the asphalt we go up to the Karatassos glade and continue straight ahead to the west. Following the ridge we pass through a couple of clearings, from the peak of Tsitsourava (424 m., next to a wind mast) and from the Castle (defensive wall from the time of the battles of the Greeks in 1823 with the Turkish army led by pasha Kioutachi). Some parts of the route offer spectacular views. We generally move on stony ground that can be slippery from the morning moisture (be careful!). Arriving at the asphalt at location Diakopi we have the choice, either to go down walking on the asphalt to Agia Kyriaki in about half an hour, or to go straight uphill to the Trikeri cemetery, then go to the village square and then go down the cobblestone road to Agia Kyriaki , in about an hour and a quarter in total.) Note: this new recording of the route is more correct than the previous one, offers much better views, and avoids as much as possible the overgrown holly trees below Tsitsourava Peak to the north.
