Itinerary description
Η χαμηλότερη διαδρομή από Άγιο Γεώργιο προς Τσαγκαράδα, που περνά από τη ράχη Κουρβέντελη (η άλλη διαδρομή περνά από το Μέγα Ισωμα σε υψόμετρο 1450 μ.). Αφετηρία η πλατεία του Αγίου Γεωργίου (Νηλείας) και τερματισμός η πλατεία Ταξιαρχών στην Τσαγκαράδα. Καθαρός χρόνος πορείας 4.40', συνολικά 6 ώρες. Eίναι κατάλληλη και για το καλοκαίρι (αρκεί να ξεκινήσουμε νωρίς), καθώς από το πρώτο τρίτο της διαδρομής και μετά βαδίζουμε σε σκιερό δάσος οξιάς και καστανιάς σε υψόμετρο κοντά στα χίλια μέτρα. Επιστροφή από Τσαγκαράδα ή με ταξί (τηλ. 6944718863) ή με το λεωφορείο ΚΤΕΛ (14.45') που πάει στην Κάτω Γατζέα-Βόλο.

Τhis is the lower route from Agios Georgios to Tsagarada village, reaching 1070 m. altitude at Kourventeli location (the other route passing from Mega Isoma at 1450 m.). Most part in shady beech and chestnut forest, so it is suitable also for summer days, if one starts early. Walking time 4.40, total time 6 hours. Start at Agios Georgios square. Ending at Taksiarchon square in Tsagarada, one can continue down to the sea for a swim or have lunch at the tavernas. An excellent walk, good signing with many handmade signs by the late Pelion hiker, Dimitris Kottalis. Return from Tsangarada, either by taxi to Agios Georgios (call 00306944718863), or by bus (at 14.45', www.ktelvolou.gr) to Kato Gatzea-Volos.

Πολυ ομορφο
The section near the Kakoskali brook (around the 850m height on the way up) is totally overgrown and impenetrable. Do not attempt that part of the route unless you positively know it has been properly cleared. I hope someone will clear and remark that part because in principle this is a beautiful walk.
I am happy to say that the sections near Kakoskali and Vassilikis stream were cleaned today and signing was improved, so the route is open and clear. Anyway, a group of 40 people walked in October 2019 (before cleaning) and got to Tsagarada without major problems.
