Itinerary description

Nice hike that keeps mostly to a dirt road through a pine forest on the way up. At times it gives you a good view of Plav and the lake. On the way there, we encountered a "park ranger" with a green jacket and a printed, laminated sign that said 1 eur to enter the park. We were skeptical about the authenticity or if we even had to pay. Who knows.

Anyway, after reaching an open field of beautiful wild plants and flowers, you follow the route southeast but eventually you need to make it west towards the pass. It's not easy to find at first but then you start seeing the trail markers. The challenging part starts after the pass to climb Mount Borit to the south as it's very steep. At the end, you get amazing views of Plav, the lake and if you can recognize them, the peaks you encountered the day before. This is the part where we were near the trail we took from Valbona to Çerem and were able to see Zla Kolata. It's such a cool feeling to see where your path comes from as it gives you a real sense of the entire trek and the places you've walked through :)

Challenging but great hike. The trail is well marked throughout without issues. We did not go all the way to Vusanje hoping to climb Zla Kolkata the next day.
