Itinerary description
Making our final trek to complete our loop of the Peaks of the Balkans, we headed towards Theth via a trail that branches off of the main Jezercez trail towards the west over a pass. Even as the final day, it did not disappoint with views of Jezercez and other peaks, valleys and even the view of the lake we camped by was breathtaking.
The trail is well marked (except a bit in the beginning) and follows the slope of a valley to the Qafa pass. The trail is well marked until you have to cross the runices river. The marking tells you to go over a hill but if you stay on the river, it'll be much easier. However, finding the main trail here is a bit of a hassle but not difficult. Once you find it, you will have to go down to a lake about 200 meters and then go up again the same 200 until the pass and then get a good view of Theth and the massive 1,000-meter descent that awaits.
This is not a difficult hike but there is lots of up and down and abourt 1,800 meters of elevation loss. God help your knees!
All in all, a truly beautiful area/trek that's worth visiting. I was in awe all the time and thankful for great (or not horrible) weather. I completely recommend it!
PS: excuse the bad quality of the recording as I was in the last amount of battery power on my phone and power bank until it turned off after the pass :) I estimate we had elevation loss of 400 meters and about 6 kms to finish when the phone turned off.
