My partner and I loved this hike. Most of the time it was easy to follow the heart-shaped blue and red-painted symbols, sometimes it was a red stripe and a blue stripe. There were confusing yellow signs, too, but they were helpful when painted on the other side of a tree so we knew which path to follow when it split. We did lose our way for a few minutes after we passed a rusting Yugoslav car (hiking in the direction that starts ascending to the village first). It was not clearly marked that there is a steep descent from that part. We figured it out when the wide trail ended with no clear path to follow. Also, later on there is a part where the trail opens up in two directions. You have to follow left. You know it because you will see a random wooden table and chair to your left. The view of Koper and the coast from the high point is amazing. And it's exciting once you see the lake near the end of the descent. No one else was on the trail, so a great place to enjoy isolation. About 2/3 in there is also a spigot to refill your water bottle. Loved it also that it was less than 10 minutes from Koper.
I forgot to add that we started below Vanganel at some center where there are tennis courts (don't know the name). We didn't find the official starting point in the village. It still took us 4 hours, but we did take frequent breaks to admire the scenery. Recommended
