This walk reveals another Abbey, an environment away from the tourist crowds. It winds on the edge of the town and in a natural, wooded environment.
Traced in 1800, it begins in the center of Opatija, next to the Hotel Palace, culminates at the Vela Fortica summer residence (the great fort, 190 meters above sea level) just beyond the Mala Fortica viewpoint (the small fort), which overlooks the top on the Kvarner bay.
From there begins its "branch" that descends to Volosca, next to the villa where the poet Carmen Sylva lived, who was the consort of the King of Romania.
The return to Abbazia takes place along the promenade named after the Austro-Hungarian emperor Francesco Giuseppe, also dating back to 1800.
The total duration of the route is about an hour and a half. The difference in height is around 150 meters.
