Itinerary description
This walk follows the Passadiços do Paivo walkway from end-to-end.
There are spectacular views literally every step of the way. If you start from the Areinho Trail-head all of the 360 M. altitude gain is in the first 2K. If you start from the other end you will need to tackle this climb about 7K into your walk.
There is a parking lot at the trail-head but it was full by the time we got there around 11:00AM. There is another parking lot about 1K from the trail-head that was built for the new 516 Arouca bridge. It had plenty of room. There is also a nice snack shop at the trail-head.
The 516 Arouca bridge is right on the Passadiço route but tickets for the bridge must be purchased in advance and are for specific times. We could not get a ticket for the time we would be walking past the bridge, so after this hike we took a taxi back to the 516 Arouca pedestrian bridge and walked the bridge. The taxi has to drop you about 1K from the bridge entry so plan accordingly.
If you park at the Areinho Trail-head it is a 1.75K walk (downhill) back to your car from the bridge.
