NOTICE: It is understood that anyone who wants to do this same route assumes the responsibility that an activity entails that is not exempt from possible risks or incidents, in an environment in which common sense and circumstances can make the difference between having a good day or the opposite.
Today we have approached from Brasov to the town of Busteni in the Bucegi National Park, in the heart of the Carpathians. The original idea was to take the cable car or gondola that they call here, to go up to the 2000 level, and from there, do one of the two marches that we have planned.
But what will not be our surprise, when when we arrive to buy the ticket, we find a queue that goes around the block, with a waiting time, which they tell us exceeds two and a half hours, and with the added condition of that the last gondola descent does so at 5 in the afternoon. Aware that we should have gotten up much earlier, we decided to take a walk around the area, to get closer to the Spumoasa waterfall. The first section, made up of a dirt track that gains height rapidly, is also full of Romanians and the occasional tourist, who have also given up wasting time in an endless queue. After half a kilometer we leave the track, just to cross a stream, take a path to the right that enters through a thick forest and with an increasing slope, we will not leave until we reach a kind of wooden shelter, very close to the waterfall. In the couple of kilometers of ascent, we have already met much fewer people, but we have seen that along the route there were different pipes and water intakes, for the tourist towns of Busteni and Sinaia, which among other things, have even with ski resort. On the way back we take the first crossroads on the left, which, going even further into the thick coniferous forest, lowers us faster to the very bank of the stream, which we now have to wade through an area with large stones. Although it may seem incredible, the queue has only been reduced by half, but there are still people who think they have enough room to get on and off before five o'clock.
