Itinerary description
To reach the trailhead, park your car at Parvathamalai Mounayogi Vidobanadha Ashrm in Kadaladi and walk north to the sign board. Turn right there and you will reach the trail. The trail is clear and you can't get lost. After a while there are two mothers and their children selling snacks and drinks, so if you are not prepared you can buy them here. The trail from the opposite side of the summit, Thenmathimangalam, is well maintained, but the trail from Kadaladi is not so well maintained.
The rock climb just below the summit is thrilling and enjoyable. The ascent and descent are one way, with separate routes. It is advisable to leave your bag or sack at the shop in front as monkeys will try to steal your belongings. You can buy some goods from the shop as a thank you. A bottle of water costs 50 rupees.
The view from the top of the mountain is amazing and you can spend half an hour there. You need to go barefoot to visit the temple at the top. I did not go there.
On the way down we went to the side of Thenmathimangalam. The path is well maintained and has stairs, but it is hard on the knees. If you are not used to walking for a long time, you may hurt your knees. There are also many stalls where you can buy snacks and drinks if you run out of them.
There are auto-rickshaws waiting at the bottom of the mountain to take you back to the starting point.
I think this is a good route for a day trek.
