Itinerary description
This short (6km return), walk will take you to some of the best caves in our area. Just stroll along Sunshine Beach northward until you reach the first headland at Noosa National Park. Over the first rocky headland you will find the spectacular Paradise Caves. You must have good balance as the walk is up and down a fairly steep 30m headland but it is well worth every step. These caves do get flooded in normal tides so ensure you go at absolute low tide to ensure you don't get disappointed. Explore the first cave which is approx. 15m in diameter at the entrance and 35m deep. 50m to the north is another large cave which you will have to swim into. Next, go back up to the ridge you descended from and climb the steep track which will take you up to the top of the National Park Steps. Follow the National Park track 500m north and take the small side trail down into the next bay- Hells Kitchen. Here you will find another huge but water logged cave. This cave goes deep into the rocky ridge and has some amazing coloured rocks lining its walls. There are plenty of rock ponds and ledges to explore in this area. Finally, you can sunbake in the next bay (Alexandria Bay) or return along the headland track, back to your starting point at Sunshine Beach. .
