Itinerary description
The trail starts in Ag Konstantinos village and the trail signs lead you to its beginning from the approaches to the village. At 700 m to the start a gravel road with a few rather steep ascents begins and I guess one need a proper 4x4 to get to the trail start.
While at the start there is a possibility to park max 2-3 cars in order not to clog the road. So I decided to walk this short part.
The trail has plenty of endemic golden oaks along the way, strawberry trees, rock roses, as well as lizards and geckos. And fantastic views of the surrounding area and vineyards.
TERRAIN: mostly narrow rocky paths, sometimes not rocky but still narrow. Almost constant somewhat mild ascent to the Eagle’ s Nest with some slight variations. The last bit is a walk among rocks.
Way to EOKA hideouts is constant ascent with some really rocky parts.
Due to rocky paths with plenty of rolling stones poles would be nice to have.
SIGNS: very civilized trail with plenty of plants signs and benches with trash bins, no direction signs but trail is well definable.
SEASON: the trail is 45-50% in shade. The best season would be spring as the trail has a lot of rock roses which will be blooming, green grass will be around as well as the water spring will be alive.
KIDS: I wouldn’t recommend to go with very little kids as terrain is somewhat demanding and quite risky for the kids at some parts, 7-8yo should be the min age.
