Itinerary description
Papoutsa peak (1,530m) is a hidden gem of Cyprus, often overlooked by many.
Located only a short drive from Limassol, this peak offers magnificent views and a variety of terrain for prepared hikers.
This trail starts near Agios Theodoros village, reaches two Papoutsa peaks and two more peaks underway, and continues to a starting point via a part of an organized trail and a forest road.
First 3.5km's of a trail is a steep climb from 1,066 to 1,533m, then a mixture of steep ascents and descents over a loose gravel path for another ~2km's, then becoming a less demanding trail until a turning point at 5.7km.
Hikers must be careful not to miss the turning point as it is not marked on the trail. Further part of the trail becomes a comfortable and picturesque forest road leading to the starting point.
Trail rated difficult mostly due to high elevation gain and steep descents on a loose gravel and crumbling stones. On the peaks themselves there's little vegetation, so hikes may be limited to a mild weather. Approximately first half of the trail bears red stone markings.
