Itinerary description
Linear trail with fantastic views over Troodos range, both sides along the path are worth admiring. The pictures I've taken don't fully reflect the surrounding beauty.
At the end of the path I made a loop as some online maps showed that it is part of the trail however official paper map doesn't show it. There is a problem in finding a barely seen path which leads up and connects back to the official part, I got a bit lost there. As well ascent was tough, the path itself reminds of a stream bed plus sharp elevation. You may not follow my loop way or alternatively follow it in reverse.
TERRAIN: narrow path all the way, first 2/3rds mostly rocky, the last third is nice forest path. You'll have to ascend to the top (sometimes sharp elevation) and then descend, a prolonged one. The way back is vice versa. Hiking shoes and poles are advisable as rocky part has a lot of rolling stones.
SEASON: this trail has very little shade most of which you can find in the last third but it's not perfect. You can get more shade due to the terrain and positioning of the sun. Thus my recommendation for this trail is cooler seasons, autumn is especially beautiful with variety of colours. In winter there may be snow.
SIGNS: the trail was used to be very well organised, but it was quite some time ago. Nowadays it needs maintenance - most of the signs (there are many!) are broken, some benches are broken too. There are actually a lot of resting places, every 400-500 m literally. I took pictures of at least half of them.
The first 100 meters of the path is severely ruined by streams and nearby construction.
Though I have to admit that some maintenance is given to the trail - branches which blocked the trail are all cut.
KIDS: I would recommend the min age of 8-9yo, taking into consideration some steep ascents and narrow path with quite often unprotected age as well as a couple of points of slightly destroyed path.
