Itinerary description
This two kilometer loop starts at the edge of Ecoturismo Río de la Pasión, a recreational center with cabins, a museum and a two'kilometer-long series of ziplines, "the only interstate ziplines in Mexico" taking you from Michoacán to Jalisco and back.
The trail takes you down to a valley where you can reach a spot on El Río de la Pasión where the Montezuma cypress trees are dripping with beautiful Spanish Moss. Then the trail takes you past a small, pretty lake and then goes back up to the Ecoturismo Center.

Trailhead
You start off on a wide, totally natural camino. The stuff underfoot is tepetate, a rocklike volcanic conglomerate which is somewhat hard but easy to chisel. It was tepetate that the ancient inhabitants of Mexico looked for when they wanted to make big pits for fermenting the sweet juice of the roasted agave.
