Itinerary description
IMPORTANT: The track is recorded ONE-WAY from the END of the route to the parking lot. So have that in mind for time and km :)
I guess the DOC sign you can find at the beginning of the track (near the parking) only considers the way to the bridge (see yellow mark and picture) and it's supposed to be a 30min walk. You can follow the orange poles all that way.
From that point, there are no more orange poles and you can only see cairns (piles of stones) here and there.
I did it in May and there was a lot of ice in that part of the trail as there's probably no sun at all hiting the path during the day. So be careful if you decide to continue from the bridge, as it's rocky and can be icy (and cold!).
The views as you go up and when you arrive to the end are absolutely beautiful. And it's a very quiet valley, so if that's what you're looking for, I'd definetly recommend it!
Bill, the owner of The Sanctuary in Arthur's Pass recommended me this track saying it was the most beautiful one in the area. And it probably is :)
ENJOY and BE SAFE!
